Our work is grounded in the reality that constitutional rights are often defined and defended through criminal cases, where new technologies are tested against due process, confrontation, privacy, equal protection, freedoms of speech and assembly, anonymity, and the broader democratic freedom to think, associate, dissent, and move without pervasive state monitoring. We support defenders, advocates, and affected communities while also creating resources that help judges, policymakers, and other rights-protective stakeholders understand emerging technologies and the stakes of their use.
